Our Stay at Cedar Lakes Estate

Let me just start off with stating their address is 1 Team USA Way! Yes, that is a real address! Even the Fedex office shipper asked me if I was kidding when I gave it to him, while shipping a package there. With an address like that, I was expecting olympic rings, and american flags at the front gate when entering the property. I was surprised to find just the opposite. When Megan, and I rolled up to the rural Port Jarvis, NY retreat around 4:00 pm I had to gather myself from the excitement. (if you followed along with my insta stories you know what I mean ha!) To describe the property of Cedar Lakes Estate at golden hour would almost be impossible. I think it might be comparable to where Snow White and the 7 dwarfs live, combined with touches of every cute pinterest camping moment you’ve seen! We walked into “check in,” I use that term loosely, because that consisted of the sweetest employee (Jessica, who is their assistant event planner) meeting us at the “General Store” with wine and cheese upon arrival. Ummmmm amazing!

Jessica chatted with us for a bit, then asked if we would like to hop on her golf cart, and check out the property. She gave us a tour, and a little background… here explains the address. From the early 1900’s to around 1940 the property served as a summer camp for at risk youth in New York. After laying dormant for over a decade Stephanie and Lisa’s (owners of the property) parents purchased it. They created a property built for the best of the best athletes. To be specific it was a training facility for USA soccer and gymnastics. One of my very own idols, Shannon Miller, even trained there. I had to pause to have a moment when Jessica dropped this little piece of knowledge on me. Hence the 1 Team USA Way. Im considering trying to rename my own street something like Champion Drive!!

Lisa specializes in gourmet food, and Stephanie in event planning. This being the perfect match for make a killer oasis for the wedding of your dream. Cedar Lakes Estate hosts some of the most luxurious wedding and events a girl can dram of. Getting a little insight into how this power duo, along with their parents and staff, creates their guests every dream come to life was a real treat.

Walking into our cabin was like going to adult summer camp, but with a lot more emphasis on the chic then the rustic. We changed quickly, and headed back out for our hour and forty five min trek to our first tour of the trip. We came back after a delicious dinner in town after the tour, threw on some pjs, and enjoyed a night in the comfiest of beds, snacking on the muffins left in our room for us, and watching Christmas movies.

After almost 24 hours of being awake the previous day, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful space and sleep in. No need to head out of coffee because our cabin had everything we need to make a cup, and sit in rocking chair on our porch to enjoy.

We then spent the whole day exploring the property, which includes luxury cabins, a barn with chandeliers, sports courts of all kinds, the general store, a vegetable garden where you can host a dinner party under bulb lights, a pool overlooking the most beautiful glassy lake, oh yeah and don’t forget that big thing out on the lake… THE BLOB!

The highlight was probably our afternoon hike at sunset. We sat on the dock at the lake with some wine, and watched it set over the mountains before packing up, and heading to our next stop. Cedar Lakes Estate was an epic beginning to our upstate New York journey.
