What to Wear on a Shopping Trip

I feel like I so often cover topics related to what to wear to “fill in the blank.” Most of these topics are events, trips, or somehow with me seem to be food related (brunch, dinner, lunch date etc).

The truth is shopping can be a little like going through the security line at the airport. You never really know how long it will take, who you will encounter, or what the appropriate thing to wear is. I have just had the most amazing fun little day in Dallas with my blogger babe Laura Boswell of Walking in Memphis in High Heels, and at the end of the day I found myself thinking about how much ground we covered in just a few hours and how your attire can really have an impact on the enjoyment of the experience of shopping. So here it goes a few day trip shopping trip:

  1. Dress up a little. I think you should go ahead and put a little make up on, maybe run a brush through your hair; or even better throw it up in a cute top knot. The best way for you to be able to tell if you like something on you, is to look like the version of yourself you will be when you are wearing this item.
  2. Wear clothing you can move around it. I really like wearing a cute pair of yoga pants of high waited jeans like I have on in this look. You will bend down and pick things up all day. Make sure you are in something that allows you to do this.
  3. Pick shoes that will last you the whole day… even if thats a cute pair of tennis shoes. I chose this plat form sandal with pom poms that I could walk a mile in, but if thats not doing it for you grab you a pair of cute sneaks and rock them! Comfort is key when you will be standing all day.
  4. Stay away from loading up on the jewels. I like to keep that mile high stack of bangle’s at home and opt for simple statement pieces. You will end up getting things caught on items trying them on. I  eventually find myself ditching them and tossing them in my purse, never to be seen again. My purse is basically a black whole, or  the place of no return.
  5. Bring a bottle of water. This is a new one for me because, I’m really working on my water intake. Stick it in your tote, and pull it out and refill it throughout the day. I have found that simply having water on hand has helped me drink a lot more of it!

I have linked my shopping day outfit below and above. I have been loving my jeans. The are cut slightly higher in the front then the back. Which is great for any shoe that wraps around your ankle. They are under $30! My top is from Forever21, and is sold out. I’ve linked a very similar one.
