If you’re the type of travel go’er who likes complete functionality, as well as affordability you definitely need to keep reading this post. Tru by Hilton invited me to come stay with them, as they newly opened their Stuttgart, Arkansas location. I was immediately enamored when the topic of their “tech-forward” design was discussed. I’m all about trying new things, especially when it comes to travel. Even more so when that travel includes a side of tech.

When I got my hotel confirmation, and it walked me through how to register my room for digital check-in and digital key, I knew Tru by Hilton was on to something. Checking in was a breeze. I didn’t have to talk to anyone; simply walked in, used the keyosk, and boom… ready to go.

You also can’t help but notice the lobby. It almost felt like a combination of a lounge, a patio garden hang out, and a game room. There were meeting tables, quiet pods, swings, TV’s everywhere, and it was all centered around the convenient 24 hour snack market, and free coffee station. Not to mention there were outlets everywhere you looked. Seriously, even on the bottom of the couches.

My room was bright, clean, and functional. Tru is a budget friendly hotel, so don’t expect opulence. Their goal is to make things simple for you, while you are in the room, so you can enjoy the experience of where you are visiting. In other words, get out and about, and have an adventure, but when you come back you will have a nice organized, well thought out room waiting for you. They are not the most spacious rooms. However, they did not seem tiny by any means. There was no wasted space, and everything had a purpose. Gone are the days of pushing every nightstand back, and having to crouch down between three inches of wall space, just so you can plug in your phone at night. How many times have you all done that!

Here are a few simple things I really enjoyed:

-The room had plenty of light.

-Though the room is not super spacious, the bathroom is a really nice size. With a walk in glass door shower.

-There was a small mini fridge in the room for drinks, and a few snacks. I love being able to travel with diet coke and bottle water. It’s such a bonus to be able to keep it cold in the room.

-There were outlets on both sides of the beds, as well as night reading lights.

-There was no wasted space, unused furniture, or closets. There was a hanging rack above the mini fridge for clothing. Also, there were hooks on the wall. This might seem silly, but I am the type that likes to unpack when I get to a hotel. I however, don’t like traveling with hangers. They always break, and take up space in suitcases. A good bit of the time when I get to hotels I ask for extra hangers, and they can only spare two or three. Ummmmm no I need 45, thanks! These hooks were great for purses, belts, jeans, casual tops, etc. …genius idea!! There was a small chair with an attached desk pad. Perfect for getting a few of those emails done. The night stands were small, and serve their purpose to hold your phone, and maybe one or two other things, while not being bulky and overtaking the room. They had a bench for your luggage, or if someone wanted to sit, but it fit nicely over the ac unit, so you could store it there if you wanted it to be out of the way.

-The Eat. & Sip. market is open 24 hours. Big bonus for us night owls who might need a little snack. AND they had complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate 24 hours of the day as well!! I’m not a big coffee drinker, so the tea was a nice welcome change.

– Their breakfast stays open until 10:00 am. Seems like a small thing considering that’s just an hour more than most, but that one hour can make or break it for me on a trip sometimes. There are times when I need to get up, get ready, and want to just grab something as I’m heading out the door for my first thing of the day. This was a bonus. I also liked all the toppings they offered for my cereal 😉

-Going with the tech friendly theme… they offer wireless remote printing. I can’t tell you how beneficial this is when I’m trying to print boarding passes or invoices. I can do it from my room and run grab them when I’m leaving.

– Lastly, their gym was great! It has a barre in it, which is extremely rare in hotel gyms. I have been doing online barre classes while traveling and most of the time I have to use a chair or get creative. Having the actual barre in there was really clutch!

With rooms starting at just $92 you can’t go wrong! I would absolutely recommend staying at a Tru by Hilton for both affordability, and ease of travel. It will make your vacation stay seamless, and functional!
