Jackson Hole Wyoming Winter Girlfriends Getaway

“Jackson” as the locals call it, as Jackson Hole actually refers to the entire valley area, not just the town is full of fresh air, old values, good people, and nature everywhere you turn. At a fun dinner during NYFW a few of us started talking about our winter plans, and how we wanted to go somewhere that had all the winter wonderland vibes. After a show of hands Amanda, Camille, Megan and I started planning. Girls snowy weekend getaway here we come!!

Off the bat, I will tell you, the best thing we did was partner with Jackson Hole Traveler. There is nothing better then locals showing you all the best their area has to offer; Latham and Beth absolutely made our Jackson Hole Experience magical! If you’re planning a trip to Jackson make sure you read below about all our stops, and check out JHT (the best online resource) for even more details about the best of Jackson Hole.

How to get there

Because it can be a bit difficult to travel to some of these types of places I wanted to note that Jackson was SUPER easy to get to and get around. I had one connection through Denver and boom we were there. The airport is small but very very nice and the rental car pick up is about as easy at gets. Counter is adjacent to baggage pick up and your car is right outside the door in the closest parking lot. We every had the nicest airport attendant see us wheeling our bags to our car (struggle was real picture Cameron Diaz in The Holiday), so he pulled over and helped us load everything.

Where We Stayed*

The more I travel the more I truly love getting vacation home with groups of people. You really get the bonding experience that you miss when in a hotel. Especially on trips like this where you want to cuddle up with the fire and a movie, or all hang out in the kitchen in the morning. Because of this we decided to go with a “mountain cabin” instead of a hotel.

We had such a great experience with Jen and the Rendezvous Mountain Rentals team. Their office was on the way to our vacation house. Megan and I popped in to grab our keys and check in was a breeze. We got to chat with Jen (owner) for a bit, and she also made some great local recommendations.

Our house was a perfect option for any type of getaway, girls trip, Bach, guys ski weekend, or family trip! Located only minutes from the base of Teton Village, and walking distance to the Four Seasons, made for a really easy commute to anywhere in town. The home was split-level with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and a vaulted-ceiling living room. The western vibes were exactly the right decor to set the mood for a great Jackson stay. A few bonus’s to note were the wood fireplace in the living room, the outdoor grill + hot tub, access to the garage for parking (this doesn’t seem like a big deal but not having to de frost or de ice your car every time you get it is definitely a plus), and the bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner towels etc) were top notch!

If you find yourself wanting a more permanent home in the area our very own favorite local and realestate agent Latham Jenkins of Live Water Jackson Hole, can help your find just the perfect spot!

What We Did

FAHRENHEIT 47 – MOET CHAMPAGNE IGLOO AT THE FOUR SEASONS*

Cutest little igloo you ever did see!

Tip: If you’re staying at the Four Seasons make sure you pop around to the side of the igloo and check out the complementary s’mores and hot chocolate truck.

SNOWMOBILING WITH SCENIC SAFARIS*

Let’s start with, Ask for Jeff. He was our guide, and truly made our experience top notch. We did the Snowmobile Scenic Safaris Tour of Togwotee Pass.

Tip: You don’t need to bring anything. They provide you with all the gear you need. I wore base layers and brought gloves. They provided the rest.

  • 7:30 Jeff picked us up at our home
  • went to office and filled out some paper work and got fitted for our gear
  • headed up the mountain to the trails, on the way we stopped at a little bodega for some breakfast sandwiches.
  • rode the trails for about an hour and a half
  • stopped at a mountain side bar for lunch
  • headed back down which only took about 20 min.
  • Jeff then took us back to our house around 3:30

WINE TASTING AT JACKSON HOLE WINERY*

Located right on the town square during the winter, Jackson Hole Winery related its tasting from their mountain side venue to a little private tasting room. Chip gave us all the info on the grapes, how altitude affects the fermentation process, and the perfect things to pair them with. My favorite was the pinot noir!

DRINKS AND PEOPLE WATCHING AT COWBOY BAR

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF WILDLIFE ART*

With over 5,000 pieces of animal artwork, some of my favorite being the bronze statues outside, this is a great place to view the elk refuge and have a wonderful lunch inside at Palete.

JACKSON HOLE SHOOTING EXPERIENCE*

I’ve never shot at an outdoor range before, so this was a new experience for me. It was snowing while we were there so this made the experience all the more fun. Tony was a true professional and made time at Jackson Hole Shooting Experience so fun!

I was the sharp shooter of the day!!!

SLEIGH RIDE AT JACKSON HOLE VINTAGE ADVENTURES*

C:\DCIM\107GOPRO\GOPR9486.GPR

Absolutely the highlight of my trip. The sleigh ride season actually didn’t start for a few more days but Latham being the ever loved local that he is knew the family that owned this experience and with one text we were in!

I can not say enough about Jackson Hole Vintage Adventures. This is truly a once in a lifetime luxury experience. Pulling in we were greeted by a man who I’m 99% sure is the real Santa! He and his wife are the owners. She even drives the sleigh!

As the sleigh rounded the corner, the snow was falling, and the horses were jingling, all I could think was I felt like I was in a scene from White Christmas. We rode through the forrest, along the river, and ended about an hour later at “camp.” There were heated teepees set up, and we enjoyed hot coco, homemade soup, and wonderful conversation with team members who have worked for the company for 20 years. This is a must do during the winter!

DANCING AT THE STAGECOACH BAR

A local spot not to miss!

Where We Ate

WESTBANK GRILL AT THE FOUR SEASONS*

Located at the Four Season this was the coziest spot with delicious food. Don’t miss the truffle Mac and Cheese, and the Cowboy Cookie for dessert.

GLORIETTA*

I’m not typical a tapas girl, but this little gem was wonderful. All the Italian face vibes. Go at night it was candle lit and the bar is adorable. We sampled a ton of things on the menu, and everything I put in my mouth was delicious. They are also a great spot for drinks! I had the hot buttered rum. YUM!

PALATE*

Great lunch spot with a view summer and winter.

BAR ENOTECA*

Located in Hotel Terra this little tapas spot is delicious! I recumbent ordering 4 or 5 plates per person and all sharing. I had one or two bites of everything and the ricotta bowl is a don’t miss. Bar Enoteca is part of a group called Fine Dining Group, which has five Jackson Hole restaurants all around the town.
